Training programme

Our one-year MRes equips you with the skills and methods required to conduct research in STOR and provides guidance to ensure you choose the right PhD project for you.

Research programme

On successful completion of the MRes, you will progress to a PhD during which you will develop leading research in STOR with practical application in industry.

Industrial engagement

STOR-i benefits from committed support from leading industry partners taking vital roles in the continual collaboration between academic and industrial research.


Significantly enhanced funding is available for up to 10 PhD students per year, comparing favourably to graduate salaries.

EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Statistics and Operational Research

The CampusThe Campus

On November 22nd 2013 David Willetts, Minister for Universities and Science, announced that STOR-i will be one of a new generation of Centres for Doctoral Training awarded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). This will fund 60 students entering the Centre's doctoral programme in five cohorts from 2014.

STOR-i was established in 2010 and has built an international reputation for the quality of its research training at the interface of statistics and OR with industry. The multi-million pound award includes substantial investment from EPSRC, Lancaster University and several key industrial partners.
